Story Knows What to Do
"My Father’s Dragon" is a lively tale of courage, wit, and friendship. Over the course of this five-day reading-and-drama program, children will follow in the hero’s footsteps through rhythm games, role-play, outdoor quests, and hands-on props that bring every danger—and every solution—to life. Working in teams, they’ll map the journey, share roles, design simple costumes, and figure out together how to cross rivers, outsmart beasts, and calm the dragon. These challenges invite them to practice listening, speaking, and collaborative problem-solving while managing excitement and nerves.
On the final day, each child will present a favorite scene through a handmade story map, a short skit, or a craft, celebrating the moment that inspired them most. The experience strengthens reading comprehension, oral confidence, and social-emotional skills. Back in the classroom and on the playground, campers will be more ready to speak up, negotiate with peers, and face new tasks with the same calm ingenuity shown by the small hero of the story, turning what they’ve read into lasting personal growth.
