Summer "Bilingual Bookworm" Reading Camp
Open to students entering grades 2–4, this two-week program invites young readers on a fun-filled bilingual journey led by experienced Chinese and English library teachers. We believe bilingual reading gives children two keys—one unlocking the treasures of Chinese culture, the other opening doors to global knowledge—creating that magical "1+1>2" effect. In our cozy library home to nearly 40,000 books, campers will explore ten engaging bilingual themes spanning picture books, phonics readers, and chapter books, from Fantasy Kingdoms and Adventure Maps to Detective Mysteries, Sci-Fi Futures, and Classic Treasures. Teachers carefully match each child with books suited to their level and interests, nurturing both a love of reading and the stamina to enjoy it.
Daily activities bring stories to life through Kahoot quizzes, role-play, "Little Teacher" sessions, scavenger hunts, and more. As children read, journal, share, and discuss their discoveries, they practice expressing ideas clearly and listening to others. With built-in movement breaks to keep minds fresh and bodies active, the camp balances intellectual growth with physical well-being—building not just language skills, but curiosity, confidence, and independent thinking. One great book discovered this summer might just open the door to a lifelong love of reading.
