On April 22nd, Keystone Academy hosted the 2nd annual poetry recital, Poetic Travelogue: A Convergence of Words, Thoughts, and Emotions at the Beijing Brilliant Beauties Garden Scape in Shunyi. Amidst beautiful foliage, students, parents, poets and poetry lovers participated in an array of activities before the recital such as flower printmaking, traditional Chinese tea tasting, formal photo shoots, and bag tinting.

The afternoon was well received by students, families, and staff alike as 35 student performers recited original works of poetry, famous Chinese ballads, and poems from international award-winning poets. Keystone’s student acapella group, Realism, opened the afternoon with a performance of an original rendition of “Cheerleader”, ringing in the Spring season with warmth and vitality in their voices. Younger Keystone students graced the stage with dazzling performances of traditional Chinese poems, illuminating the park with theatrical performances and engaging the audience with their voice.

The Beijing Brilliant Beauties Garden Scape served as the perfect background for the event, creating a magical setting accompanied with a range of floral arrangements decorating the stage, vintage and antique objects interspersed throughout the garden, truly immersing guests in a magical, forest like environment. Keystone’s Parent Teacher Association Choir closed the recital with a performance of “On Wings of Song & Velvet Flowers”, gathering guests around the stage in one final celebration welcoming in the Spring season with powerful lyrics and words of songs.
