Dear Prospective Colleagues:
Thank you for your interest in Keystone Academy. It is truly a remarkable place, and in great measure it is the people who make up the teaching staff that have made it so. I’m delighted that our school has caught your eye.
A few words about who we are as a faculty. This academic year, 208 educators have gathered here in Beijing to teach and work in partnership with students and colleagues. Half of those teachers have Chinese as their first language, and the other half come from all over the English-speaking world: Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, Kenya, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, the UK, the United States, and many other places. What binds us together is our dedication to our students, the development of good teaching and our subject knowledge, and our commitment to the Keystone community. We are a diverse, talented, and lively bunch. This is a group of teachers for whom I have the highest personal and professional regard.
Teachers at Keystone benefit from working at a new, well-funded school with outstanding resources. It is exciting and demanding to work in a bilingual environment, and we support our staff with a robust professional development and mentorship program for teachers at every stage of their careers. Student enrollment is selective and the applicant pool expanding, keeping our eight full-time admission officers busy with interviews and visits from prospective families. The administrators and senior staff, many of whom have been with the project since its inception, are in it for the long haul.
If working in a not-for-profit institution like Keystone is appealing to you, I hope you will spend some time finding out more about the school from this website. We put much thought into what we write, and you will be able to get a fair sense of the place from clicking on some of the many articles gathered here. I might suggest this brief essay from our Head of School, Malcolm McKenzie, as a place to start.
I wish you the very best as you investigate different schools, and consider where you might like to teach in the coming years.
