![]() Last Child in the Woods—Saving Our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder 《林间最后的小孩——拯救自然缺失症儿童》 By Richard Louv 理查德.洛夫[著],自然之友 王西敏 [译] English version available at HS Library 本书中文版可从高中馆借阅 "I like to play indoors better 'cause that's where all the electrical outlets are," a fourth grader in San Diego said. Within the space of a few decades, the way children understand and experience nature has changed radically. The polarity of the relationship has reversed: although kids nowadays are aware of the global threats to the environment, their physical contact and intimacy with nature are fading. Out of fear of potential risks, adults create a safe world believed to be better and suitable for kids. In Last Child in the Woods, Richard Louv brings together studies that point to direct exposure to nature as essential for a child's physical and emotional development. He also describes a possible future for us: the Fourth Frontier where humans and nature can live in harmony. At a time when education faces interruptions or setbacks, this book serves as an important reminder for all. As the marine biologist and writer Rachel Carson said: "Those who dwell among the beauties and mysteries of the earth are never alone or weary of life."
